"At the Spring festival, days of dancing, singing, feasting and revelry bring together in peace, for the only time of the year, the normally hostile Jivaros, the Amazons, and whites.  This festival song itself reflects the social mixture of the event, being less pure Incan and more 'mestizio' (a combination of native and European) than the others in the album." (Liner notes, 1956 pressing, underlining by the author)

The underlined passage above is the first mention in the notes that the songs in this album were considered Incan rather than Jivaroan.  Alledgedly coming from Jivaro festivals, this is actually "Carnavalito Boliviano" from Yma Sumac Mambo!

Apart from the obvious inaccuracies of presentation and starkness of music, this arrangement is more interesting.  Yma's singing is more inspired than in the earlier version, and the short song even contains a few flashes of true brilliance like at it's conclusion when Yma swoops, with strength and authority to a grand high F.
